Front Cover picture editting

The original picture I have taken and now edited the picture to get the model exactly how I wanted her to look like. I have made her hair lighter, changed the colour of her lips, airbrushed the picture and made the model look more tanned and removed a blemish that was on her forehead.

Shots that did work after improvement

After reviewing all of my pictures these are the ones I most like and that i feel worked well once I had fixed the focus on the camera.

Shots that didn't work so well

I took a lot of pictures all together, after i'd took the first half of the pictures I had then realised I didn't get the focus right which caused more of a time issue so I had to restart some of the pictures again.

Change of mind

The first and original plan was cancelled due to people who let me down and couldn't make it. So I went and spoke to Mal to arrange on Wednesday after school to book the school hall. I then spoke to my friend Lauren and she was free and came in and had the pictures taken.

Planning for first draft pictures

The plans for my first draft pictures are.. My location is going to be in a music room with a white wall background which will have Brittany, Jade, Siobhan and Chloe in. They will all have very light makeup but with red lipstick. Each will be dressed in dresses and a jacket or a skirt and a top. One of them will be holding an acoustic guitar and another one will be holding a microphone that will be one of the pictures for the double page spread showing them rehearsing. The band will be called the luminites. In order for me to be able to use a guitar and a microphone and also to have access to the music room, I will have to speak with Mr McGinity the head of music. The reason i have chosen to base my shot in a music room with a white background because it fits in well with the personality I want the shot to have and also because it has a better affect because its showing that the girls are meant to be rehearsing. The makeup I have chosen I think will look better and more natural even though the band are a pop group I don't want their makeup really heavy unless i decide to show a shot of them performing at a venue therefore I would use the schools stage which I would have to speak to the caretaker Mal to see when the hall is available for me to use. The clothes I have selected are because my magazine is aimed towards girly girls and with that band image it appeals to the target audience. For the camera shot my front cover shot will be a medium long shot which will display all the girls posing next to each other with possibly one or two of them sat down. For my double page spread I'm going to have four images one will be of the lead singer which will be an up close shot which will show her playing the piano showing her other talents. One of the other pictures is of them all rehearsing  together. Another will be one of them all in casual clothing hanging out in the spare time with a story to go with whats happening in the pictures and the other one will be of them all on stage together performing to a crowd. I will speak to all the girls this week to see when they are all free and when we can work out a time that they can be apart of these images. I will also speak to Mal and Mr McGinity to when they are also free and whether the girls are free at this point as well. For all the shots I want quite a light atmosphere except from the venue shot I wan't it quite dark.

The name of my music magazine is going to be 'Sound Splash'

This is one of the fonts I have decided I like as I think its visually nice to look at and it would look very nice on a music magazine.

This is another one I am considering using as the text would look very good on the splash part of the masthead.

This is another text I like because I like the style of the text and with the name of my magazine I think it would suit the house style and the name very much.

Task 1

The magazine i have chosen as my style mode is Q. I have selected Q because I like the house style of it and they use a variety of different artists in their magazine and don't really stick to a pacific genre.

1) Age Range- 15-24
2) The gender is for both ranges
3) Aimed at a group with limited finances fro example; students, school leavers, young professionals therefore i'm going to price it at £2.99
4) Average readership from January to December is 377,000
5) There is no pacific genre, this magazine is aimed at wide range of genres suited to cater the needs of everyone.
6) A wide range of different artists/bands such as; The Wanted, Jessie J, Beyonce, Panic at the disco, Drake, Chris Brown etc; I have chosen this because it's a wide range which will have a wider target audience range.

Conventions- Serif Font

Both magazines use a very different font to one another. Billboard displays theres in a black and basic text where as Vibe's magazine looks more modern in a sense that it's in white and that its in a long blocked text.

Conventions- Main Image

Both magazines have the main image of iconic singers that will be well recognised by fans. The billboard magazine displays an image of Katy Perry that even without the text shows it's her. Vibe magazine displays an image of Chris Brown and it is also obvious that it's him. They are both posing.

Conventions-Barcode

For the billboard magazine there is no barcode on the front of the magazine which will probably be on the back of the magazine as it wouldn't be on the inside because it wouldn't be as quick as it would of the front of the back. Vibe's magazine has the barcode on the front of its magazine which is very visible and also has the price on it.

Conventions-Masthead

These are the mastheads I have been looking at. They are both well recognised brand names. They are both going across which makes them similar. They both have a name and not a logo. Billboards house style is the black writing with the a and d coloured in with different colours. Vibe's magazine house style is very bold and has white writing thats very big that makes it stand out from the background.

For my contents page i had to make sure that my font and colour was the same so I duplicated the layer onto the Contents page with both to make sure they where both the same.
