Adding the Contents

Once again I've kept the gradient fill in Listen, I've also kept 'This Week' in the Arial.
I have now began to add the page numbers with the stories. I have used Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande in my contents page as that would interest my target audience. It's important to use other artists that link to your target audience so it interests them. I have also added things in like this this weeks top 40 and 100 songs you must download.

Contents Page

I have now started my contents page, So far i've added the same title as my front cover and contents. I have kept the same gradient filled 'Listen' As I think it stands out and grabs the audiences attention. For the 'Contents' font I have used Arial, although this is a very basic font I think it works really well. It's simple and it looks nice and it also stands out I think it looks good. I might also add into the masthead 'Listen to the contents.' Instead of just Listen Contents just to make a better reference to it being a music magazine.

Front Cover so far

This is my front cover so far... The main image itself still needs editing work doing to it as this is taking me quite a while to get the hang of photoshop, i have started to add the text into place about what the main headline story is. Even thought my house style colours are red and silver i can't just use them all the time, which is why I've added the blue colour i'm not definitely sticking with this colour yet but at this stage I just want to start getting my templates in place, and anything that doesn't fit or look right I can change a bit later on.

Because it's a music magazine I have added also inside, Miley Cyrus Q&A and Ariana Grande's Album Review, due to an earlier task that was set of my target audience profile I thought it would be best to start adding in other artists and other conventions for a music magazine.

Working on the front cover

Today I have started to work on my masthead of my front cover. I have stuck to my house style and used the red and silver colours, with a gradient overlay. I decided to put a gradient overlay on my text because it really stands out and if someone was to see it in the shop it would attract the audience. It's also quite ironic to it's name because you use your ears to listen but you need your eyes would easily spot this.

I've also added a selling line that reads 'Uk's Best Music Magazine.' To anyone that's looking at music magazines wanting to buy one if they read Uk's Best Music Magazine they will automatically know that this is a good magazine because it sounds like the whole of the UK have voted for this to be the best music magazine in the country.

I've also added the issue number and the price, I thought its best to have the issue number and price at the top because if someones on a restricted budget they are going to want to know how much it is. The reason i've also chosen this price is because as it's aimed at teenagers to young adults, they might not have a lot of disposable income or a lot of money of there own, which is why I've priced it at this range and not a higher one.

I've also added a barcode at the top as well, I've looked at other music magazines and some of them have the barcodes have on the back or even on the inside page, I think that this makes it more awkward and it's better to have the barcode on the front cover in a visible place.

Front cover planning

What I want for my front cover:

House style- The colours I have chosen for my magazine are Red and Silver I have chosen these colours because they refer back to my style models. Although my target audience is mainly teenagers but I still want it to look sophisticated as it's not aimed at young teenagers but more older teenagers into young adults.

Shot-I want an up close shot that shows attitude and stands out to the target audience.

Cover Lines- After i've wrote the main title to go with the pictures I will then want to add extra little stories about things, for instance I will write stuff about other Artists and a tiny snippet of what's going to be in the story.

Selling Line- I will use a selling line which will be on all magazines usually and it will be something like. 'UKS top music magazine.'

Barcode and Issue Date- I will have a barcode possibly at the top of my magazine with the issue date and the price next to it. I think it's much easier when the barcode is on the front of the magazine with the price because if someones looking at your magazine in the shop and they can't see the price they might be put off buying it.

Masthead- The masthead is veyr important as It's what the target audience remember, The title of my music magazine is yet decided but I have two names 'Sound Splash' and 'Listen' I think the more likely one i'll choose is Listen.

Todays Work

Today I have been editing my front cover picture by taking out the background of the picture and there is to much going on in the picture which is taking away the effect of the picture. For this picture it needs a more simple background probably a Silver or Grey colour would look nice.
